The BFA in Theatre program at Athens State University is a professional degree program that is designed to offer intense experiential training opportunities in theatre for students wishing to complete their undergraduate education with Athens State University. Students earning a BFA in Theatre will acquire various fundamental performance and production techniques, develop dramaturgical skills by critically analyzing dramatic literature, and gain knowledge of current trends in the performing arts industry. Theatre majors are trained to be desirable employee candidates in a variety of areas such as acting, directing, writing, producing, managing, designing, set construction, teaching, community activism, and arts center management. The required studio training reinforced through practical artistic experience with three annual mainstage productions will allow BFA in Theatre graduates to create a portfolio, which is immediately applicable to entering the professional world or to continue their studies in a Master of Arts or Master of Fine Arts program.
EACH STUDENT MUST ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR KNOWING THE ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE THAT IS BEING PURSUED.
General University Requirements for Graduation
Students earning the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a major in Theatre must satisfy all general University requirements and meet all financial obligations before a degree is awarded.
