Criminal Justice (CJ)

The degree programs in Criminal Justice include a major in Criminal Justice, an option in Juvenile Justice Studies, and minors in Criminal Justice, Forensics and Investigation, Homeland Security and Administration, Forensic Psychology, and Cyber Criminology/Computer Forensics. The program also offers a certificate in Child Advocacy Studies. This major provides students with interdisciplinary knowledge of criminal, constitutional, and correctional law processes, investigation and evidence collection, policies, and management practices within criminal justice agencies and organizations. Courses in Forensics, Cyber, and Terrorism prepare students to use current technological approaches in investigation and science. Through internships and practicums, students engage in experiential learning and lab work to gain hands-on experience in specific sub-fields of criminal justice. The program prepares graduates to pursue employment in law enforcement, correctional administration, judicial administration, social agencies, non-profits, probation and parole, security, state and federal agencies, and investigation in government and private sectors and further study in graduate school.
