CS 317 and The equivalent: If a programming course has not been taken prior to CS 317, CS 305 Concepts of Computer Programming should be taken as a general elective before taking CS 317.

MA 331 and MA 431: When one of these statistics courses has been taken to satisfy the professional requirements, the other may be taken as a math elective.

Choose three from the following Mathematics electives to include a sequence (9)

In either MA 401 Complex Variables and MA 452 Introductory Real Analysis, or MA 422 Operations Research and MA 423 Numerical Analysis. MA 401 and MA 452 are recommended for those majors planning on attending graduate school:

Exit Exam: An exit exam is required for graduation. The non-licensure Mathematics major may choose the PRAXIS II Mathematics Content Exam as their exit exam, or the departmental exit exam may be taken in the MA 470 course. It is the student’s responsibility to register for the exit exam. If the student opts to take PRAXIS II exam, the Alabama benchmark score at the time of the request will be used to determine whether the students passes or not. Also, the student must report the results to their advisor. The Mathematics major with a minor in Education is required to take the Praxis II Mathematics Content Test. If, after 3 attempts, the student is unable to pass the Exit Exam, the student must pass a 400-level math course, except MA 454, with a grade of C or better.
