HY 324 Nazi Germany and the Holocaust

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive, sophisticated account and analysis of the Nazi period in German history and the Holocaust. It will explore issues related to the content and implications of Nazi ideology, the role of Hitler, and the complicity of Germans, from workers to the elites. The course will examine the origins of the Nazi movement and conditions in Germany that led to the movement's rise to power, along with the historical context of German anti-Semitism. It will provide a detailed analysis of the consequences of the implementation of Hitler's policies in the form of genocide, military conquest, defeat, and post-war legacy.
