This course provides models of collaboration which can be implemented in any public school setting. Furthermore, collaborative techniques which address interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders throughout the special education process will be addressed. Legal requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), it accompanying federal regulations, and state requirements will be thoroughly investigated. Requirements of the course include written Individual Education Plans (IEPs) which are legally defensible and participation in simulated special education process meetings. Field experience required.
