GN 301 Introduction to Genocide Studies

This course examines the psychological, cultural, historical, and societal roots of human atrocity, mass violence, and genocide. It examines questions of what enables individuals collectively and individually to perpetrate mass violence and genocide as well as examining the impact of different actors, especially bystanders. The course is organized around the idea and concept of genocide along with its many categories, agency and structure in genocide, and explaining modern genocides.
