It will engage students in a critical study of canonical and non-canonical texts and related subjects. It will focus on issues related to the critical study of biblical texts through the use of historical, literary, and sociological methods. Attention will be given to historical, social, and archaeological aspects of the Ancient Near East and the Greco-Roman world as the background from which biblical texts emerged.
