Dr. Catherine Wehlburg has been leading innovation and change for over thirty years in higher education. She has served in several different roles in her over thirty years of higher education as a tenured full professor, department chair, associate dean, dean, associate provost, and provost. In each of these roles, she has focused on enhancing student learning, strategic decision making, and assessment.
As a scholar, Dr. Wehlburg has published many articles, books, and chapters and has always had a focus on educating the whole student as the essential role of higher education. She holds a BS in Psychology and an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida.
As an educator, Dr. Wehlburg has taught undergraduate and graduate courses across several institutions. Her focus on active and engaged learning has provided support for thousands of her former students to grow and flourish.
Dr. Wehlburg is driven by a strong sense of optimism and excitement for the future of Athens State. She believes that every student has the potential to thrive and succeed – and that Athens State is the place where students can finish what they start. Onward Ever!
