MCO 520 Asset Security and Cybersecurity Auditing

Cybersecurity audits play a key role in addressing todays rapidly changing cyber threat landscape. Executives, including members of the Board of Directors may be required to certify that they have taken reasonable steps to protect information assets. Cybersecurity audits are a primary way to verify that information system and process controls effectively address cybersecurity risks. This course will cover cybersecurity audits, providing aspiring audit professionals with the information needed to manage a comprehensive audit of cybersecurity controls. This course introduces the need for organizations to deploy compliance initiatives to counter regulatory requirements. Understanding the information assurance process will give the students a better view of the many threats and the controls to counter them. This course covers the principles, the approaches and the methodology in auditing information systems to ensure the processes and the procedures are following pertinent laws and regulatory provisions especially in the context of information systems security (ISS).
