AR 568 Topics in History of Ceramics

This course will examine the history and theory of modern craft through a study of ceramic artists and movements. Lectures and readings will provide students with a chronological overview of more than a century of ceramics occurring within art, and will also consider the field's links to other crafts. Time will be reserved for discussions on the consequence of socioeconomic, political, philosophical, and industrial influences as drivers of change. Graduate students can expect an individual project in art history chosen and planned by the student with approval of the instructor.
