EL 324 Early Mathematical Concepts: Measurement, Geometry, Algebraic Ideas, and Data Analysis (Grades P-2)

This course is designed to equip preservice teachers with the knowledge and strategies to effectively teach foundational mathematics concepts in measurement, geometry, data analysis, probability, statistics, and introductory algebraic thinking in early childhood settings in grades K-2. Emphasis will be placed on developmentally appropriate methods, essential content, hands-on learning, and strategies for engaging young learners in meaningful mathematical experiences. Through practical applications, lesson planning, and reflective practice, preservice teachers will gain confidence in fostering a positive and supportive environment for early math exploration. This course may include field experiences.
