The Drama and Theatre Arts program at Athens State University is designed to expand the activities and educational opportunities in the dramatic and theatre arts by offering students with any experience level in college theatre to seamlessly transfer into completing a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Theatre Arts with Athens State University.
EACH STUDENT MUST ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR KNOWING THE ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE THAT IS BEING PURSUED.

Applicable General University Requirements
Students earning the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in Drama and Theatre Arts must satisfy all general University requirements and meet all financial obligations before a degree is awarded.

At least two literature courses:
1. ENG 251 American Literature I And ENG 252 American Literature II recommended.
2. Students must complete a 6 hour sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV).

Natural sciences: Lab-based.

At least one history course: Students must complete a 6 hour sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV).

Electives: Theatre Production/Design courses recommended.

In addition to the Professional Courses above, Drama and Theatre Arts must complete one of the following:
MU 302: 1 hour course - need at least 4 semesters.
TH 470: Must be taken during semester in which student graduates.

TH 469: Must be taken during semester in which student graduates.
Elective hours as needed to meet minimum 124-hour requirement and all other general University requirements (Total depends on concentration)
