Policy Update - Concurrent Degrees Graduate students are not allowed to pursue graduate degrees concurrently at Athens State University.
7/31/2025 Extension Campuses Athens State University has a license with Redstone Arsenal for non-exclusive use of classrooms 105B, 204, 205, 217, 213, and 224 in Building 3495, located at 3495 Patton Rd SW, Huntsville, Alabama, for college administration and classroom and related activities. The license is valid until September 30, 2025. Athens State University also leases two offices, two classrooms, one office/testing room, and one workroom located on and adjacent to United States Highway 31 in Hanceville, Alabama. The total square footage is 2,616.94.

Program Name Change
On September 12, 2025,the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) approved Athens State University's request to rename the Master of Fine Arts in Integrative Design to the Master of Fine Arts in Integrative Art. The title change is in response to the accreditation process from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. As referenced in the NASAD Handbook 2023-24, (Standards for Accreditation II.I.I.g and II.I.2.c), the NASAD has requested that the institution review the curriculum and clarify changes made to the title that ensure consistency with accreditation standards.
