HS 300 Foundations of Public Health

This course is intended to provide the history and philosophy behind public health practice, and introduce the fundamental concepts, core disciplines, and essential functions of public health in society. Material in this class is organized according to five thematic topics in public health: 1) foundational concepts, 2) methods of analysis, 3) biomedical bases, 4) social and behavioral factors, and 5) environmental issues.
